RETURN TO MENS JEWELRY

Old coins and black pearls...I love the combination. After the discovery of America, copper maravedis were the first coins struck for the purpose of circulation in the colonial island of Hispaniola, and are thus considered the first coins for the New World. Crude maravedis were used as colonial change for smaller transactions. Initially produced in Spain specially for the Indies, they were later struck locally at Hispaniola years before the mints of Mexico and Santo Domingo were officially established. (WIKIPEDIA) This coin is est. 1500-1600. I have had a love of old coins since childhood, always dreaming of the places the coin might have been. I have drilled a small hole in this old copper penny and added a sterling jump ring and hand knotted it on a 20 inch fine leather brown cord. I have also added a cultured black freshwater pearl that measures 10 x 12mm. I made the closure with another 9x11mm black pearl. Truly OOAK. Can be worn by male or female.
